Arriva London’s Enfield garage welcomes Leon Daniels, Managing Director, Surface Transport
It was with great pleasure that we recently welcomed Leon Daniels, Managing Director, Surface Transport, to Enfield garage.
The visit had been organised following Leon meeting Enfield bus driver Malkiat Birdi, whilst he was attending the TfL initiative for drivers called Hello London. Malkiat had impressed Leon with his attitude to customer service and this developed into Malkiat being invited to be part of a TfL poster campaign, and an Ambassador for the Hello London initiative at Enfield garage.
Malkiat, a bus driver for over thirty years, was later informed that Leon would be pleased to visit the garage to present him with a copy of the poster in which he appears, in recognition of his efforts.
The Hello London campaign emphasises the important role bus drivers play in the community. The poster, which includes Malkiat, outlines the fact that he had not only driven the bus, but "En-route to Manor House Station he directed four excited fans to White Hart Lane Stadium, navigated a major diversion due to an unplanned road closure and also helped a mum and excited little boy get a seat at the front."
Leon was met by Arriva London Managing Director Bob Scowen, together with Malkiat and several of the garage team. After the presentation, Bob invited Leon to take a tour of the garage and see the facilities.

Arriva London’s Heritage Fleet assists The Royal Hospital Chelsea to mark their National Care Home Open Day
The Royal Hospital Chelsea recently celebrated National Care Home Open Day 2018 by opening the doors to its dedicated care facility and welcoming supporters and visitors to the event.
Last week, we were delighted to welcome Michelle Salter and Donna Prendergast from the Sickle Cell Society to our Brixton garage, to meet with some of the givers and also record a few words about what the Payroll Givers' generosity means to their charity.
We have the ambition to become the mobility partner of choice, preferred by our passengers, partners and clients. Having a diverse, talented and motivated workforce is key to achieving that ambition.
We are always looking at ways to improve our green credentials and a recent initiative, part of our Destination Green programme across the business, at our North London Palmers Green garage is another illustration of this process.
Last summer, we were delighted to be awarded the contract from TfL to operate route W4 running from Oakthorpe Park Estate to Tottenham Ferry Lane estate, operating from Wood Green garage.
As part of our commitment to developing our business, we invest heavily in training for all of our staff to offer the great customer experience. We also look at other ways in which we can develop our relationships with the communities we serve, and allow them the opportunity of learning about our processes and to meet some of the team.
